Scurry, Scurry, Scurry
What are all those scurrying-around sounds I hear in the background??? Is that perhaps the sound of Republican bigwigs running around, scratching their heads stiiiiiill in utter disbelief at John McCain's selection for Vice-President? Did he suffer a 72-year-old brain fart, or does he view the vice-presidency in such a demeaning manner as to account for the lame, almost irresponsible, choice?
And when independent/undecided voters go behind the voting curtain will they not be thinking about a tottering McCain possibly not making it through his presidency, and THIS lady taking over the reins of power for the free world, before they cast their vote? --- Just maybe an unsettling thought!??? The spinmeisters at the Republican Convention are going to be working overtime to put the best face (and hairdo, lip gloss, apparel, etc.) on this selection.
Personally, the more I learn of McCain's choice, the more insane it appears --- not sure which is scarier: the visage of this woman holding forth as Vice-President, or what her selection says about the mental state of John McCain, and him holding forth as President. YYYIKES!!!

R.I.P./R.F.K.
One so wishes he could be here today to have witnessed this Democratic Convention just ended. The last politician who truly inspired many of us at a visceral level:
2008 Deja Vu???
8 years since the 2000 Presidential election was originally stolen by Republicans, and STIIIIIILL the voting machine crisis and lack of a paper trail exists in many states. Yet once again the election may be stolen from Democrats by rigged machines in just a couple of key states like Florida and Ohio. Obama state victories by 2% or less of the popular vote are easily switchable by fraudulent software, with no simple way to detect, as any computer programmer fully understands. Indeed, McCain himself could have been catapulted to key primary victories by rigged machines this spring, as the chosen puppet of powers-that-be.
It is unconscionable that this circumstance, fatal to democracy, still persists. And it is vital there be a mammoth turnout of Democratic voters on Nov. 4 to push Obama state victories well beyond the critical 2% margin.
Older, pertinent clip here:

Has He Lost His Marbles?
Many are still scratching their heads over John McCain's announcement of his running mate choice. 'Has he lost his marbles' is a sentiment that has been expressed more than a couple of times. It's almost reminiscent, in some respects, of certain prizefighters in the past taking a dive to throw a fight.
The number of voters who will be turned off by the pick with zero Washington or foreign policy experience, certainly outnumbers those members of the G.O.P. base who will be energized by it. Indeed, a number of prominent Republicans (uhhh, Romney, Pawlenty, Crist, Portman... come to mind) will have had the wind sucked out of them by this selection, leaving little energy with which to actively campaign for the ticket. In a time when any hint of sexual or financial impropriety suddenly makes a candidate unqualified for high office (in many peoples' minds), one must wonder if the thorough and intrusive vetting process simply forced McCain to pass over most comers and turn in the direction of Gov. Palin. Only later history books may eventually offer the answer. Even with the positives she brings to the plate, the choice of Palin seems inexplicable, even nonsensical, from many other angles. Time will tell if McCain has made a risky, but wise choice, or simply a risky, foolhardy choice.
Has McCain lost his marbles ? I don't know; but then I've never been certain he had all his marbles to begin with.

Sarah Palin
At least two things seem inferrable from John McCain's pick of a running mate today:
1. Cindy McCain has a lot more sway over his decision-making than anyone fathomed, and
2. His top two choices for running mate could NOT be successfully vetted, so he went with a 3rd or 4th choice.
...but do give him credit for helping make this the most fascinating Presidential election year of my lifetime.

Forthcoming
Tomorrow we'll likely find out who Grumpy McCain has picked for his running mate on the Repugnant Party ticket: Will it be Dopey, Sleepy, Sneezy, Bashful, Doc, Mitt, Tom, Tim, or Joe??? Ohhh, the excitement is unbearable...

All The News That's Fit To Rant...
Condi Rice continues to flap her lips at the Russians, as if Putin would pay any attention to what this toothless, lame-duck, non-credible, worldwide-disrespected Administration has to say about Russia's inevitable actions. Wake up and smell the vodka, Condi; merely repeating, 'Can you hear me now, can you hear me NOW!' ain't gonna get ya anywhere. Dismally-failed policies over 8 years have a quirky little way of circling 'round and kicking one in the posterior. Pass Ms. Rice some Ben-Gay, or Prep H, for her efforts... enough to get her through 5 more months, I s'pose. Oh, and do keep an eye on Poland.
In other news, incredibly, John McCain continues to get over 40% support in popularity polls (criminy, how many junior high voting-age dropouts can there be in this IQ-challenged nation???)...
Why would anyone expect those who continually oppose and denounce 'big government' to do anything other than flunk miserably at running big government, as they continually do? And now some people actually want more of the same??? ...The country is spending way too little on mental health services.
The perennial question is, 'are you, or are you not, better off than you were 8 years ago?'
If you're better off, raise your right hand... and then, put it down and go back to running your $#*%ing oil company.
Meanwhile, school is starting up around the country... Here's some of dat-there new math for ya:
McCain = Bush = Nixon = Bebe Rebozo (...apologies to Bozo the Clown) = Mediocrity + Doofusness X 3

Time For Rehab
Looks like it'll be Obama/Biden against McBush/McMore-Of-The-Same (whoever) to try and re-establish America's place in the world community over the next four years (as if this Administration's decimation of America can even be repaired in that short of time).
One From Column A, One From Column B

A Novel Idea
Tonight should be the long-awaited announcement of Obama's running-mate choice (will the name begin with a P or a K?). Obama says he wants a Vice-President who can step in and be President if needed, and who can counter any preconceived notions he (Obama) may bring to the job, thus offering "robust" debate on issues within the White House -- geee, there's a peculiar idea, debate within the White House. After 8 years of a stooge for President, surrounded by 'yes' men, and routinely duped/manipulated by neo-con, corporate hacks, can the country stand discussion of issues at such a high level?

This/That
Obama continues pulling rope-a-dope on the press over his VP selection -- I believe the prominent press names mentioned are just headfakes and smokescreen; we'll likely know late Friday. And McCain's non Neo-Con choice (likely Ridge or Lieberman) a week later.
Rudy Giuliani to keynote the Republican Convention that will nominate John McCain -- expect to hear a whole lot about "9/11" ... ehhh, not so much, maybe, about multiple wives or adultery.
Latest Zogby poll gives Keating-five candidate McCain a 5% lead over Obama in Prez race, assuming McCain is still breathing come Nov. 4 -- if followers/associates of Anne Coulter and Rush Limbaugh get their way that may not be the case.
Beware the Ides of October.
By the way, ya got any idea how many houses you own??? Tough tough question I know...
