At least two things seem inferrable from John McCain's pick of a running mate today:
1. Cindy McCain has a lot more sway over his decision-making than anyone fathomed, and
2. His top two choices for running mate could NOT be successfully vetted, so he went with a 3rd or 4th choice.
...but do give him credit for helping make this the most fascinating Presidential election year of my lifetime.
